Editing - a plea

Has anyone else been frustrated by noting, perhaps in the Changes Tracker, that an observation that you have contributed to has been edited but when you go to the observation not being able to see what changes have been made?
When I edit an observation I try to remember to put a note in the Details|Description explaining what I’ve done. Do others think this would be a good habit for them to get into?

Great idea, I’ll try and remember!

Yes, I do try but often fail. Adding a tag can take so long and risks the spinning thing, so sometimes I am so pleased to be nearly completing a task that I forget. With habitats and subhabitats to the fore at the moment, there has been a flurry of this, people wishing to contribute.

Agreed! This was raised a few years ago, and you’re right - it is frustrating trying to work out what has changed if there is no note made.

I assume that , if the poster has not provided an EDIT note , then the information is not overly important to the rest of us. For example a revised Tag, spelling correction, etc.

… but, without such a note, even if it is important it may be overlooked.
When editing anyway, is it really too much to add, for example, “Edit: typo” or “Edit: tag added”?

Thinking, when I edit an observation immediately after posting it’s probably because I’ve spotted a typo or more recently when the loading of images stalls and i go back to add the others.
If I edit, to update an old observation I generally add a note to indicate this, especially it there have been agreements or comments.
Sadly the ZA community no longer has a “flurry” of anything - except today I had a flurry of duplicates ending up with THREE, and having deleted two am thinking … did I edit the first and now have deleted the correct one?

An aside… how can a post be deleted? I posted a dulpicate and wanted to delete it, but couldn’t see a delete option.

It is easier if it’s recent.
This is what you do: go to your options and select OBSERVATIONS.
See Operations - Preview Edit Unpublish
THEN the tricky bit is if you need to go back in time remember the DATE ADDED
See the bottom of the page you can click NEXT over and over until you have the correct time frame.
If it’s years ago there is another thing one can do
The URL at the top of the screen will look like this: (I may need to corrupt this to confound the forum)
httpsx://www.xispotnature.org/your-ispot/observations?page=3
Its possible to change the page number to get closer to the date you need.
REMEMBER to preview before you unpublish which can’t be undone
Good luck

See my long-winded solution above.
Think Derek taught me, but it does work.

Deletion process. Thanks, but given the opportunities to mess it up, on balance I think I’ll leave it.

It’s quite straight-forward in practice. Just go to Profile => observations and then scroll back until you find the relevant one. Then delete it. I’ve done is several times without any probs,.

Many Thanks & again for 20
