In the newspapers

Think You’ll find this interesting JoC. Tonight there will be a programme on BBC about sea otters - this was filmed on Fish Hoek beach this week (It’s a FaceBook link so hope it works) https://www.facebook.com/FishHoekBeach/posts/an-otter-on-the-beach-this-afternoon-at-15h30-️thursday-18-april-2019/2164633170286679/?hc_location=ufi
There was another sighted in the Liesbeek River canal, by a Friend of Rondebosch Common. Video on their FB.

Otter… Thanks Marlandza, I enjoyed this clip - along with more than 45,500 others so far.
It seemed unphased by the photographer.

From the BBC earlier this month https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-london-47882688/seals-returning-to-the-river-thames
Seen at Canary Wharf today https://www.ispotnature.org/communities/uk-and-ireland/view/observation/778864/poppy-the-seal-is-back-river-thames-2019

This gives me a lot of pleasure, and reading, every couple of months. Try to glimpse it in your public Library or a magazine rack. I think you might subscribe once youve seen it https://www.resurgence.org/magazine/issue314-pathways.html

A loss for everyone.

Another sad story from the Cape - hopefully it will have a positive outcome

I started this forum topic in Jan 2018.
It is now quite long, so I think it time to start anew.
I suggest, as a title, In the Newspapers from Midsummer 2019.

That might be a good idea as the longer these lists of comments get the harder to find things I suspect.

Also it is a bit of a pain if you see something higher up in the thread and want to reply to it but the reply comes out at the bottom next to something that is completely irrelevant.

I agree. the trend here is to start everything afresh without reference to existing threads anyway.
I’d just start a new one Jo. the old will soon be buried and forgotten. @miked has a link to this one on the Home Page which needs to be erased. I believe there should be Do you HAVE and OPINION? link, renewed often on the Home Page. We need more people HERE…
An average of six people follow up links here, some links have been opened only twice

If you make a category for In the Newpapers each article can have its own thread.

Hi Lavatera,
Please go ahead & do it,
Jo

As far as I know, I can’t do that - MikeD might be able to.

OK, so maybe at midsummer I’ll just start a new thread and we can keep them to a few topics. I like the facility of sharing these topical items that appear in newspapers.

Have added a category as suggested, In the News, could change it to Newspapers or some other suggestion.
