Non responsive website other stuff

This is a topic parallel to Error 500 + non-responsive website report log
but where you can say things other than just strictly replying to the questions the programmer asks for.

Maybe not everyone realises that a CRUCIAL Ink is hiding in the above. Only 2 people have clicked it and I am one of those…

This thread is not going to have many users clicking through to the 500 error thread.
They will be going directly there after a time-out.

There will be a lot in that thread when she gets back to deal with it in about 3 weeks time.

OTHER STUFF - wow things are really becoming weird - used the cookie option to post an observation but the map was just a blank. So what next? Went to EDIT and redid the map.
Time for a cuppa tea - keep calm and carry on, one would think.
That’s when the gremlins got to work. My EDIT became a duplicate post.
Have deleted the second one - so let’s see what transpires
The original

the map sorted itself out

Talked too soon - went to FAVOURITE the baby white eye

No logic to any of this.

Please don’t try fixing things - it’s only getting worse

Keep an eye on what is happening with maps as google seem to be going to approx double the charging for them, the actual increase in price is very unclear and will depend on usage of each website.

The last time I checked against an old observation at Fish Hoek mountainside, I was thrilled to see that the path we used was spot-on - much like the quality we had with Google Earth - I don’t use Bing but that is another option.

THINKING - I wanted to set up a website of medicines information in RSA. and went into the costs - I wanted it to be free for the community and health workers who had no resources and then ethically no advertising - in those days the cost depended on the traffic and downloads - fortunately Intekom were just starting up and I was offered a spot - most drug companies supported me - I stopped updating when it became a problem to get support for updates. But I had some rather nice feed back - and then, of course some who took my data and sold it on - not a very nice world -
That’s why I find iSpot a joy - sharing for all at no charge - guess someone has to pay nothing is ever free.

Indeed, the Open University pays for the programmers (and servers etc), me and Janice which is why we try to get in grants to cover our costs. But we also have to pay for the google maps and a few other bits.

The forum is playing up today.
22/02 2025 mid day.

Other forum topics opened normally and then in this topic the reply button appeared to work and I was able to post the above reply.
How very odd.
