im looking for where to find the endemic species on Gran Caneria and also any native and different species I wont see in the UK if possible

I’ve managed to find some links for you, Zo. Some pages need to be translated but some are in English:
https://www.grancanarianaturalandactive.com/es/gran-canaria
There is a maritime strip in the Biosphere Reserve treasures more than a thousand native species, almost 300 unique endemisms and vertebrates in the world as the giant lizard of Gran Canaria, which can reach up to 80cms in length.
This page has a map showing the Biosphere area:

https://www.grancanaria.com/blog/es/naturaleza/

https://www.lopesan.com/blog/en/tips/animals/

http://www.iberianwildlife.com/canary-islands/forest-habitats.htm

I see some of the links above just have the name in blue (i.e. no picture) but you can just click on them.
.
I tried to attach a photo to show you where to click to translate any pages in Spanish but it won’t work at the minute. If it’s in Spanish, look at the top menu with the url address and on the right there will be what looks like a document, then XA, then a star. Click on XA to translate.

Birds to look out for in Gran Canaria https://ebird.org/region/ES-CN-GRC/bird-list?yr=curM

You won’t find any new bird species for Gran Canaria unless you are incredibly lucky. But good bird spots are often good for other wildlife, too. This seems to be a good place to look: La Charca de Maspalomas | Birdingplaces

thanks. for your help. unfortunatly the hotel we were going to stay in is no longer available so I have to choose a different island. one of the other ones on the list that had a hotel. at least its been a womderful learning oportunaty for learning about the Greek and spanish islands and learning about Gran Canaria and the others in the archapelago the climate habitat and what Wildlife can be found on those islands thats the main thing. cause now im going to have to research Fuerteventura and Lanzarate and decide which one I want to go on holiday to

Iv just found out from my Support worker that Menorca and the other two islands are gone now aswell she has done me a new list of ones that are left now

Skiathos or Temerife

Good to see Zo is in Tenerife!

Yes, the pity is that the Home page does not show RECENT GLOBAL Observations. It could, if someone has the will.

if anyone has spare time can you help me with this observation on my observation. neither me nor the dive centre knew what it was but I put a lot of effort into staying in one place long enough to get it before my flippers and gravity and other factors forced me up to the surface. I didnt see any more of it when I was snorkelling

Even with a clearer photograph I probably couldn’t say anything useful, but here’s an article on Tenerife’s reefs.

Tenerife Reef: A Diving Paradise in Spain (canariasacross.com)

Seems ‘a dirty’ area, Are you certain you were not nearer the shore?
Some seaweeds ‘cloud’ up and become festooned with other growths.
There is ‘stuff’ called SRD (sewage related debris) possibly closer inshore but sometimes deposited by currents - it has to go somewhere, Your photo shows debris (or rich life) streaming past the camera.
You might also look towards Plumrose anemone they commonly look like small trees and in ‘dirty water’ also cloud up.

thanks for the help with that so far I do have a load of observations other than the couple already seen that may have been missed

this is one of them.

there is also Betholetes pipit, a hermit crab, and plants from mount tede
for example

I have also been keeping an eye out for wasps and other invertebretes that whos population is aparantly down this year and I have seen a couple so I have also managed to get some photos not just from Spain and Wales but from Gloucestershire and Dorset aswell. I have seen lots of bees, and lots of Butterflys, ants and a couple of wasps. I have also seen a couple of beetles this year. I havnt seen as many moths as Butterflys but defanatly lots of inverebretes some more than others and some species more than others. Iv actualy seen a variety of Butterflys and have seen abit more variety of butterfly species this month there is also noticably lots of Bumblebees about during the summer and this month. there was a noticable lack of wasp activaty but wasp activaty has increased since the end of July the wasps were more absent than normal during June and July but around late July and this momth I have started seeing a couple of wasps flying around

in fact even though iv seen a couple in Gloucestershire Iv seen more wasps in Dorset than in Gloucestershire. most of them were on the beach but I also saw some at blue pool nature reserve.

and on the beach and at the reserve cause there was lots of them and they were interested in peoples food they were bothering people when they were eating which is what they would of done during peak summer instead of the time of year when they dont tend to bother people as much
