A shame…that modern keyslots are of no value to Inverts.

You’re right! I have one of these but it’s on what was the original wooden door which had a sort of porch built around it and now this has a completely unsuitable keyhole for this bee.

I think we could consider buying some old-style keyholes, put them on any wooden structures to hand with a suitably sized cavity behind them, and thus provide more nests.

Re-name them as “Beeholes” ©.

It turns out that our local hardware store already stocks Beeholes.

They are called escutcheons. I will have fitted and fixed several hundred in a previous life.
JoC photo has a swing cover version (don’t buy that!) and eBay has them under a different name for 7p each! Those ones will rust nicely!
