"Desertification" of Britain

Guardian article on the change of parts of the British uplands into low biodiversity regions dominated by Molinia caerulea (purple moor grass). Presumably different parts of the uplands to those being overrun by bracken.

On reading elsewhere [purple moor grass and rush pasture] (Purple moor grass and rush pastures - Wikipedia) is a rare habitat under threat. It’s a species rich habitat so presumably different from the monocultures the Guardian is raising the alarm about.
