I use the refresh until I get a “clean” load of the page and then it works.
One or more of the server units must have failed to reboot correctly after the power failure. Perhaps they need to be rebooted in a sequence to get them to work correctly.
It is a tough one to fix.
There have been a series of power failures in last few days not just the one this morning and this seems to be having a variety of unexpected effects, as people have mentioned things are not yet stable.
One of the unexpected effects is that we can’t actually put up banners or front page stories so that is why you have not seen anything there.
I would not be surprised if everything has to be restarted once the power issues have been fully resolved but there is no news on this possibility, it is just my guess.
There’s an ongoing issue with the machine the database is served from so we’re currently in the processes of moving it. The site will be in maintenance mode while we do this. Shouldn’t take long.
