Heart-rending message

Have a look at this: Bryony Fernandez | User | iSpot Nature

I don’t know anything about the mushrooms but I know that pancreatic cancer is one of the worst.

A recent study https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9103111/#sec4-molecules-27-02746title

Thanks - I expect that’s what Bryony has discovered. I knew that the prognosis was poor but I didn’t know that there were half a million new cases per year (world-wide). It seems a long shot that eating a few mushrooms would make much difference, sadly.

My impression is that there is lots of research on new types of treatment for cancers, the difference in recent years is that some now seem to be showing promise after a long period when there was not much progress in treating most cancers. There is still a gap between research and widespread treatment though.
As far as these mushrooms go, I have found them several times but not recently. If the person or their friends wants to look for them then they can turn up even in urban areas on bark paths although normally in woodland, there is a chance they could be found now. But even if found then there is the extraction process which would have to be done very carefully and may need specialist equipment and reagents.

As miked says, the extraction process may not be easy

I was going to alert Bryony to this forum thread, so she knows her message has been seen, but I can’t see a way to do so.

No - that’s why I put the message on this forum - she hasn’t posted any observations. I suspect that she has posted similar messages wherever she could.

Mike has everyone’s email address. I would guess he has already contacted Bryony.

I have not contacted them directly but noted they joined at almost midnight on that day and have not logged back in since so would not have seen any messages even if we had come up with something useful.
