Bottleneck does seem to be the little bit after image upload and before display, that either does not happen at all or is rather slow. Perhaps memory leak or similar at that stage not clearing the ram?
Let’s not forget the “good old days” when we waited 15 minutes to load a game on the ZX Spectrum.
Or when we waited 24 hours for our punch cards… only to find we had a typing error.

When an image has uploaded, iSpot keeps the original and also makes up to five different size versions of it for use in different places on the website (depending on how large the original is). Obviously doing to takes some server power and if you upload multiple images at once, it end up trying to resize all of them at the same time. So, although its designed to be able to cope, at the moment I would suggest only uploading a single image at a time and waiting for it to complete before trying to add another.
