I’ve been forced to use a new computer, and discovered a couple of things -
- I really dislike Windows 11
- Although my other passwords (which have had to be reloaded, of course) are being remembered, iSpot won’t remember that one. With the others (generally), I am prompted whether I want to save them: not with the iSpot one. It used to work in Windows 10, but not in 11.
Any ideas?
Try saving the bookmark while being logged in.
Thank you! A trick I didn’t know you could do with Firefox - never having needed it before. (I am discovering how much I’ve forgotten about setting up and customising software, having not done it for so long - even some of my Word/Excel macros stopped working (because files are now in a different location).
I am most grateful!
It worked and you have a good bookmark.
I don’t find Windows 11 much different from 10. It seems reasonably stable. Not that I tax it that much.
I just find the interface a little difficult - long association with predecessors and my age being largely responsible. I found a couple of bits of software that help mimic some of the old layout/functions.
It did take me a while to figure out how to turn the PC off! The File Explorer is the key to much of what I do. (I don’t use mine for much other than surfing, preparing documents and spreadsheets and editing photos. I have a very hand app called File Renamer which I use a lot when I’m processing photos (as you can rename batches of files).
Better? 20days later?
I didn’t immediately like it but now I feel more experienced. There are masses of forums on line to help with niggles
Of course, it does not work for us without a reliable Browser
I am still with Google Chrome and began to hate Firefox
.
iSpot makes me angry at times though
I actually Edit the Bookmark title to include password prompt or the actual password. I don’t need that for iSpot but I do for, say, car insurances, as they change every year (for me)
And I often use Folders for Bookmarks - the iSpot one is in a Nature Folder that contains about six bookmarks - GBIF and the likes
I am coming to terms with it, rather than liking it better. An add-on (Explorer Patcher) and a third-party replacement for Synctoy have made things more tolerable.
