On that basis, please could I change my user name to Ken Noble (from Surreybirder), @miked ? I first used that pseudonym on Birdforum when there were few members. It seems a bit pretentious now as there are hundreds of birders in Surrey. (In any case, I hope to leave Surrey fairly soon.)
Will do in about a weeks time, want to check there is no havoc on site caused by the change to Ian/Thistle. Remind me if I have not done it by then.
What turns out to be interesting regarding names, is that everything, Globally, changes the moment you change names. The whole tracker is instantly aware you have done it and Filter results are amazingly complete, almost within a second or two - I do a lot of filtering!
I have great problems with those who prefer to use two digits for their name (there are not many), rather like DM or ðJ. These cannot be filtered for so, as a Reviewer here, I find it quite difficult to get results from filtering (impossible in some aspects)
There is a Forum thread (somewhere) about name upgrades from two-digit ones but some are still current.
As I write this, the site is really behaving well. I can no longer immediately crash it with a filter request - I try quite regularly.
As I wrote that, Miked visited (above), there appears to be NO havoc created by name changes or my constant filtering! (amen)
For anyone else who follows this route, note that changing your screen name also changes your log-in name (or should that be the other way round?)
This seems to have been sorted now and I appear as Ian_Malcolm throughout the site and forums: many thanks.
Hello @miked
12344567890
ok, thanks for the reminder, try now
Actually just tried to change the name in the forum too but made a mistake and changed your normal name not your username so you may want to change that back.
Turns out that I could not change your username in the forum so it may come over from the main site in a day or two.
Many thanks, Mike! Much appreciated.
