Yes, shows sensitive farming of algae. However, I’m not sure where the evidence is for ‘superfood’ label. Something to check out…
“Superfoods contain a variety of nutrients” get it?
But “Scientists claim that use of the term “superfood” is largely a marketing tool,” Really?
Mozuku or Tokida - Cladosiphon okamuranus
No records in Japan Cladosiphon Kützing, 1843 (genus)
Closest relative (Chordariaceae) in iSpot https://www.ispotnature.org/communities/uk-and-ireland/view/observation/763800/
I am dismantling the Marine Stuff project, moving it up a gear and away from specifically Marine.
This thread is still viable and live for anyone who wishes to raise a Marine issue https://www.ispotnature.org/communities/uk-and-ireland/view/project/796619/marine-stuff-dismantling
Hmmm. It sounds very promising. Looking forward to seeing it.
I have been offline for 13 days. See it now https://www.ispotnature.org/communities/uk-and-ireland/view/project/796619/

And today, an announcement about Kelp in Orkney https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-53558308#:~:text=Kelp%20found%20off%20Scotland%20dates%20back%2016%2C000%20years%20to%20last%20ice%20age,-32%20minutes%20ago&text=Scientists%20have%20discovered%20kelp%20off,age%2C%20around%2016%2C000%20years%20ago
See iSpot’s valuable collection of seaweeds here - https://www.ispotnature.org/communities/uk-and-ireland/view/project/777036/the-seaweeds-invitation-gallery
Very interesting about the refuge population, this concept is widely used for land plants but did not realise it might be so important in the oceans as well.
(Four years later) TAKE a TOUR through the Revised SeaWeed Gallery
And
Have you seen the Mshell (invitation Tag) collection here Observations | Gallery | UK and Ireland | Page 1 | iSpot Nature
A shelly ID chart might be useful covering the common ones and saying if there are lots of similar ones for certain of the items shown on the chart.
Yes, I am yet to form the Spotlight that goes with the tag Mshell. @Gulvain is to do a Spotlight on Bivalvia as soon as we can get TO it. I need to warm up a bit first. Seashells is a good collection in iSpot but not easy to bring together
Goodness, this is an old thread! Lots to check out though.
Hope you don’t miss this just in this week:
Been there, done that…
Yes I really want to reinstate general interest in Marine Posting.
Adding to a thread brings it to life.
All over the wet sand this morning
Wonderful masonry (I assume)!
More, please
I am out of place at the moment as you will have spotted.
There have been a few marine observations going up at the moment, but checking observations is a bind at the moment.
I am trying to keep up. What, with my rather cool activity-level and the site’s reluctance to perform, it is all a bit jadeful. I am progressing with my study of our Talochlamys pusio and am on a site visit today.
I have a LOT of material!
I think this thread would support particularly strong single Marine photos - I’d really like to see some anyway (yes, the sand mason Jane)
recently rediscovered
That is an amazing website but still wondered if a simpler overview for beginners to get them started is possible as I suspect most people only visit the coast very occasionally and forget what the shells are.
Does this fit the bill any better:
An excellent find. A copy in the iSpot Resources forum would be appropriate.
The WRFT hosting this mollusc site is the Wester Ross Fisheries Trust.
their website has other interesting sections e…g. Wester Ross Fisheries Trust :: Education and Raising Awareness
.
On the mollusc page there is a mention of iSpot: "*There are three main citizen science recording platforms: iRecord, iNaturalist, iSpot. *
iSpot - probably the least formal, but generally the most supportive in terms of getting help in identifications."
