I am very skeptical about the science as they are monitoring the pond edges and ignoring the areas where the foliage is being harvested from.
Surely if the beavers were not there would the foliage rot and produce emissions where the foliage grew away from the rivers and ponds anyway.
The beavers are just concentrating all the activity into one place and the scientists have taken the “bait” and tested only the ponds.
They have ignored all the coppiced areas on the river banks.
