Just need to share these two observations - and asking at the same time for comment - I’m not an expert and may be giving incorrect advice

See this from Parasitic Plant Connection - Cytinaceae

Cytinus sanguineus

Notice there are flowers with bright red perianths whereas others are darker. This species is considered by some to be conspecific with C. capensis (hence C. sanguineus a synonym of C. capensis ).

Any ideas?

Not sure I can help as don’t think I have ever seen Cytinus, not even the European ones. Interesting that they are in the Malvales.

Thanks Mike not common. Just found the old links interesting
Sad that we lost Pricilla. She would have loved to follow these up.
