We looked at the database server, which is usually the cause of slowdown, but it didn’t show anything beyond the usual level of load. If it affected the forum too, which is on a different server completely, that suggests there was a network issue, possibly with Cloudflare.
The good news is that we currently have running a completely new server setup with an “acceptance” server running at the moment to test things, and we hope to be switching to that architecture very soon. We’ve adopted new monitoring software too so we can see what component of the system might be causing a bottleneck and increase its RAM/CPUs as required.
