A Wild trip out with my family for the day

It does work off line, because around here I do not have internet access on my mobile. You get more rogue identifications when offline, so I get American Robin identifications. These normally settle down to some sort of thrush.

Merlin is good but not 100% reliable.

Do you have to pay to use Soundcloud?

I’ve not done so. There’s probably a limit of some kind.

You can create a free acount so it is free. theres some limits cause it’s free. But you can send your recordings when you make an acount

There is also this though it is free and not limited and when you send recordings to it it can help with conservation

You can just copy and paste the link when you submit a audio recording
In a few ways one copy and paste the link from the page

You can also

There’s also this aswell when you submit observations you can add sound recordings. not exactly the same as Xeno canto but still uses audio recordings for conservation purposes.

Here’s an example

So you can add audio recordings to these sites aswell as sound cloud and then copy and paste the link To do an observation of it on the i spot Nature main website as I did with the Tawny owl if you have no picture or video and only sound like has been done with sound cloud

Thanks very much for that link to Xeno canto. The Dutch have loads of good biodiversity stuff but they often seem a bit separate from the rest of Europe, perhaps that is just my impression. Actually after looking up the biodiversity centre in Leiden I want to go there!

Thats ok Mike

i went on holiday to North Wales last week and we stayed in a cottage where you could see the sea and there was a field with holes and dens next to the cottage. when me and my parents went outside we had 2 eyes circleing us and it came over to see who we were. and interestingly the dogs didnt react to it

the second night I heard a Tawny owl and i was able to record it calling with the sea and lights from wind turbines in the sea in the background while recording

the 3rd night I just happened to be standing outside when 2 Barn owls flew over low it was very exiting.
