What about Florida? It’s warm and has a very good tourist infrastructure. And you would certainly find very different wildlife from anything in the UK.
thats ok and thanks Surreybirder
Do you know what airport and what country I would have to depart from if I were to go to Florida?
I would guess that Florida would be a direct flight from UK.
It is a big enough part of the USA to have direct flights.
Reference to the web finds the following site giving 8 airports that have (scheduled) flights to Florida. Charter flights by the holiday companies may add other airports.
Which UK airports can you fly to Florida from? | Florida4Less
On the other hand Florida has been pushing through transphobic legislation, etc. Various human rights groups have issued travel advisories (do not visit recommendations) for Florida.
florida lgbtq travel advisory at DuckDuckGo
update: I forgot to mention that if you go via Atlanta there are probably more UK airports you can depart from.
I didn’t know that.
Texas is further, and has great faunal diversity. But I’ve not been there.
Virginia might be another option. I’ve been a couple of times and really liked it.
Birding trip reports | CloudBirders is a great resource for planning birding trips - but I don’t know about general wildlife trips.
California even further but should be ok on the human rights front. It does have lots of interesting wildlife, again can link to some of my observations there.
that is very usefull to know doesnt sound like Florida is a good idea if that is the case and thanks for the infomation about the flights and the update
thanks for those sugestions and the link
it is defanatly a long way It is 11 hours but if there lots of interesting Wildlife then it sounds like an interesting plaace
thanks for letting me know
If you can hang on until the weather gets a bit better Yellowstone National Park is worth a look.
You do not have to wait until the weather is really warm as it has under floor heating with hot mineral rich springs that are visited by all sorts of wild animals that need mineral tonics. They have a whole range of different mineral mixes that attract different animals.
It is far enough away from the bible belt to be LGBT safe although I would still check just to be sure.
I’ve been to California - only the coastal zone - but it was amazing. And of course you have very good infrastructure in the US. I would recommend the San Fransisco Bay area; and also Monterray, a bit further south (sea otters and whales if you take a pelagic trip - though it may be a bit early for whale migration at the mo.)
This is one place I remember… https://www.visithalfmoonbay.org/
that sounds interesting. Im hoping to go to the place I decide around Spring Summer time but if not it will be September hopefully it will be Spring and Summer though
those places sound interesting there. iv been doing lots of in depth research what countrys are safe and what ones arnt. as you can imagaine war areas and places near war areas were mentioned Russia. iran, Gaza, and Hamas. im not political but safety is important. not just in an LGBTQ sense. aparantly Central African Republic and west Africa have level 3 or 4 warnings. it isnt very safe. no wars nesaceeily but some conterys are exsperiancing tension from other contrys increasing the risk of terrorism and other things. and so warnings are somstimes put in place. Iv also been looking into times to and from locations that are gender identitiy friendly and mega diverse countrys and currently ticking off those that are safe and lgbtq friendly aswell as having endemics
Mega diverse means countrys where endemics are found and not ones that dont have them. interestingly theres a rather long list
Guatemela,
Austrailea
Brazil- lgbtq friendly
China
Colombia
Democratic Republic of Congo
Ecuador
India
Indonesia- not trans friendly
Madagascar- not Trans friendly
Malaysa- not Trans Friendly
Mexico- listed as un safe in general however
Pupua
New Guinea
Peru- trans friendly
Philippines- not trans friendly
South Africa- not Trans friendly
but Gay friendly- recently made gay Marriage legal there
US - depends on what country in the US you fly to.
Venezuela
Guae maia
Tranzania
Bolvia- very unsafe for Tourists
Thailand
Malta is very LGBTQ friendly both gay and other sexual orientations wise aswell as being one of the most safest for Transgender people- trans friendly
however it isnt on the list of megadiverse countrys
Malta doesn’t have much diversity of habitat - and there is a long tradition of bird hunting. It’s a lovely country but not really what you are after, Zo. Cyprus might be more rewarding.
I’ve got a nephew who has just had an amazing couple of weeks in Costa Rica. He loved it there and there is a big range of habitats in a comparatively small area.
