Work and play observations

Made a comment at the observation, maybe not following the protocol, sorry! This one raises a smile.

A case for the tag, IMO.

excellent photo and observation
I do not think it quite qualiflies for the tag.
Look at the other examples

Fair enough - wasn’t sure the reflection would comply!

Touch and go. Anyone else who supports it would tip my opinion.

I was looking for an observation of Koi Carp and found these w&p candidates.

Jolly well found
A job for the Curator though ( I have asked)
I don’t think Work&Play is a very popular concept.

I think you’ve used this photo in one of your projects.

Another fisherman showing off a Carp

.

Is Cyprinus the best ID for a Koi Carp?

“coloured variants” I am not certain though Wiki seems to be Koi - Wikipedia
I suspect, as they are likely to be Hybrids, then Cyprinus seems a safer bet.
Mirror Carp are almost certainly not the true Common (or Euro-) Carp, called Cyprinus carpio
Mirror carp - Wikipedia
Cyprinus rubrofuscus (Koi) is favoured by the CoL but not our own Master Dictionary (NHM Index)

Thanks. I’m working towards a second fish and want to get the ID right. I will add two observations of Koi later today.

I was working - honest! - measuring height:

What about this following a photo order change:

Another possibility

I made a comment re the leaf blower and raker in the second one above at the observation itself. https://www.ispotnature.org/communities/uk-and-ireland/view/observation/835297/the-great-leaf-tidy-up
A definite Yes!

Re the butterfly, you are right it’s also a definite YES, but it would be good to ask observer to place her face pic as first in the observation. https://www.ispotnature.org/communities/uk-and-ireland/view/observation/835284/a-butterfly-in-the-hand-or-on-the-nose

Thanks
I asked for B’fly photo re-order in my request, best not to ask too many times!

This is interesting and I wonder what others think… an image of the observer actually observing, taken by observer but not a selfie nor achieved using a mirror?
